The Great American Spiritual Desert


Oh me oh my~~~the only thing left, after the spirit has gone~~~is politics, that is~~~with the exception of the man caricatured above~~~Dr. Hunter S. Thompson~~~for he was brave enough to injest the proper amounts of various drugs and so enabled to drive The Great American Spiritual Desert and delve into The American Political Machine~~~to find the spirit even there. God Bless You Hunter for you saw what others could not. You helped us all, even the ones who could never hope to understand you. As Jack Kerouac wrote in On The Road: "The only people for me are the mad ones. The ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn, or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn, like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars." You were such. Rest in peace.

Where Is The Humility?


The fact that these two men are so successful that they need no introduction, that they are indeed famous, says something about the America of today. Sure America is a porno cult of personalities and needs its supply of people to feed the 24/7 media machinations of celebrity, but these two? Prudes. Oh they use(d) drugs and fundamental ideologies to block out their realities, but they underline the pervasive net of fear that exists within our society. White men running this country is a thing of the past. A new multi-cultural mix is self evident in the young people you see on our city streets and these two pander for control of a society whose racial bedrock has shifted under their feet. And so? They are bombastic and yell alot, thinking that they know the truth and want to point us in it's direction. And Truth? Is it not a living thing connected to all and everything? Love, beauty, death, and truth all facets of the same Life? That which is One? Native American Indians lived their lives more fully in harmony with America than the white man ever did, and these two white men represent our fears. They stand for thought trying to control the uncontrolable, and within the shallowness of their ideologies and philosophies, they both have become American icons. They don't live, they tell others how to live. They feed their followers only dead words. They are our examples, for they show us what is dead.
